Saudi Defences Intercept Houthi Ballistic Missile Fired at Riyadh

Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels fired a ballistic missile at Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, with Saudi defences intercepting the attack, marking a significant escalation in regional tensions. The Houthis also claimed attacks on "sensitive" sites in Riyadh and an Aramco facility in Yanbu, a key oil export hub, using missiles and drones. Qatar condemned the attacks as a blatant violation of Saudi sovereignty, while oil prices slid as investors eyed a recovery in Saudi shipments despite the ongoing hostilities. The US restricted employee travel to Taif and Yanbu due to the deteriorating security situation, and warned citizens not to travel to Iran. Houthi leader Mahdi al-Mashat declared a policy of "blockade for blockade," threatening Saudi vessels, while Iran warned any US attack would trigger sustained strikes on US bases and regional interests.
