Russian strike on Odesa sparks fire, black smoke over city

A Russian strike on the Odesa district caused a fire, shrouding the city in black smoke and worsening air quality, according to local officials. Emergency services are responding to the attack, and specialists are measuring atmospheric pollution. Unconfirmed reports say a "Silpo" distribution center was hit, and a large fire at warehouses in Usatove, possibly belonging to "Nova Poshta," is visible from the city. As of 9 a.m. on September 22, the SaveEcoBot monitoring site reported good air quality with a PM2.5 index of 23. The attack occurred during a combined Russian strike on Ukraine overnight, which also targeted Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Zaporizhzhia, causing casualties and damage. This follows a previous Russian attack on Odesa on September 17 that partially destroyed a residential complex.
