Ukrainian forces intercept Russian jet drone with new German-Ukrainian SPYS interceptor

Ukrainian forces successfully intercepted a Russian jet-powered drone using the new SPYS interceptor, a German-Ukrainian development, according to a video published on September 21. The drone is reportedly still undergoing combat trials. The SPYS, built by Quantum WIY Industries, struck a Russian "Geran-5" kamikaze drone from below, causing an explosion that neutralized the target. The footage was shared by the German Aid to Ukraine Telegram channel, which tracks Berlin's military aid to Kyiv. The manufacturer describes SPYS as a high-speed anti-aircraft drone with AI technology, day and thermal cameras, designed to destroy strike and reconnaissance drones before they reach protected areas. It integrates with WIY software, radars, and other targeting sources.
