Russia vows stronger attacks after Ukraine's largest drone strike

Russia's Defense Ministry said it will intensify attacks against Ukraine in response to Ukrainian drone strikes that targeted Russian territory during the country's legislative elections. The ministry accused Kyiv of attempting to disrupt the democratic vote. The Ukrainian attack involved over 1,000 drones and cyberattacks, hitting a refinery and residential areas, causing fires and killing at least two people, with around 20 injured. Moscow's mayor said more than 450 drones were shot down in the largest assault on the capital since the war began. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the strikes targeted key oil industry facilities and a logistics center. The Russian elections, the first since the 2022 invasion, aim to renew the 450 seats of the Duma and are also being held in occupied Ukrainian territories. The vote is expected to deliver a victory for President Vladimir Putin's party.
