Strait of Hormuz war claims 20 lives in 68 incidents over six months

The International Maritime Organization has confirmed 68 incidents near the Strait of Hormuz during six months of war between Iran and the US and Israel, resulting in 20 deaths and 35 injuries among seafarers and port workers. About half of the incidents involved tankers, with 47 classified as attacks by the UK Maritime Trade Operations. Liberia-flagged vessels were most affected, followed by ships from Panama and the Marshall Islands. Incident rates spiked before peace talks collapsed in mid-June, slowed during negotiations, and have since risen again. Four seafarers were killed and 16 injured after talks broke down.
