Trump: Iran Executions Must Stop Now

newsbomb.gr (Greek)

US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that executions of protesters in Iran, which he called a "humanitarian crisis of vast proportions," must "stop now." Trump wrote on Truth Social that Iran is not paying much of its military while killing protesters, without specifying a particular execution. Iranian authorities announced Sunday the execution of a man convicted of "operational actions" for Israel and the US during January protests. Iran has admitted over 3,000 deaths since the February 28 war began, blaming "terrorist acts" orchestrated by the US and Israel. In 2025, authorities executed at least 1,639 people, a record since 1989, according to NGOs. The EU and about 30 countries condemned the executions on August 12, but the US did not sign the statement.
