Iran says US sanctions will fail, vows to overcome with wisdom and determination

Iran responded calmly to new US secondary sanctions announced by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, with officials vowing the measures will fail. Tehran claims it has mechanisms to neutralize the economic pressure. Iranian Economy Minister Ali Madanizadeh said sanctions are not new and Washington cannot cut off the country's financial lifelines. He noted the government prevented 600,000 people from becoming unemployed since US and Israeli attacks in February. Government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani said Iran will overcome sanctions with wisdom and determination. President Masoud Pezeshkian, visiting Pakistan, urged Washington to correct its approach, while parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf dismissed US threats as ineffective against Iran's trade partners.
