Iranian president: US economic pressure will not achieve its goals

nation.com.pk

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tuesday that the US cannot achieve its objectives through economic pressure on Tehran, days after Washington launched a sweeping new sanctions campaign against Iran. During a three-hour meeting at the Central Bank of Iran with Economy Minister Ali Madanizadeh, Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati and economists, Pezeshkian reviewed monetary and financial indicators amid what he called conditions of war, economic blockade and external pressure. He stressed maintaining economic stability and containing inflation expectations, adding that Iran has stood and will continue to stand firmly against economic pressure. On Monday, the Trump administration launched "Operation Economic Outcast," a sanctions campaign targeting Iranian aviation, shipping, gold, technology and digital assets, blacklisting over 60 entities, individuals and vessels. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent described the goal as the "economic asphyxiation" of the Iranian government.
