China warned Tuesday it would firmly defend its interests after the U.S. announced new secondary sanctions targeting Iran's commercial partners, including China. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent unveiled the sanctions Monday, hitting gold, technology, digital assets, aviation, and shipping sectors. Washington also sanctioned 60 individuals, companies, and ships across the UAE, China, Singapore, and Europe. Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian said Beijing would take all necessary measures to protect its rights, calling the pressure campaign destabilizing. China is Iran's key economic partner, receiving over 80% of its oil exports before the war.
