Oman hopes for safe shipping corridor in Strait of Hormuz after Tehran talks

Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi said Tuesday he held constructive talks in Tehran with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, expressing hope for a temporary corridor through the Strait of Hormuz and practical arrangements to restore safe navigation. The talks focused on a phased framework providing a practical basis for resuming safe shipping, including a joint temporary navigation corridor and a project to clear mines from the strait, according to a ministry statement. Technical negotiations continue toward a permanent navigation corridor and future management arrangements, including information exchange, traffic management, and adherence to international law and coastal states' sovereign rights.
