Oil tanker hit by unknown projectile in Strait of Hormuz, left disabled off Oman

An oil tanker was struck by a projectile of unknown origin in the Strait of Hormuz on August 25, leaving the vessel disabled. The crew is reported safe, according to British maritime authorities. The strike caused mechanical damage that immobilized the tanker approximately 9 nautical miles northeast of Ash Shishah, Oman. The UKMTO stated the projectile damaged the engine room, rendering the ship unable to sail.
