Iran, Oman agree on temporary Hormuz shipping route

Iran and Oman have agreed on a new temporary shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz, but Iran says the waterway will remain closed until the US meets its commitments under a June interim peace deal. The route's entry and part of its exit will pass through Iranian territorial waters, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi. The corridor is seven miles wide, and talks followed meetings between the two nations' foreign ministers in Tehran. The strait has been largely shut since February due to the US-Israel war, with mines and attacks disrupting shipping. Iran dismissed US claims that all mines are cleared and warned against US mine-detection vessels, urging countries to resist American sanctions pressure.
