US Sanctions Iran, Threaten China and Other Nations

The United States announced a new "Economic Outcast" operation of secondary sanctions targeting Iran, threatening to isolate any nation, including China, that continues business with Tehran. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that those not siding with Washington will face isolation. The sanctions will target five key sectors: digital assets, gold, technology, aviation, and maritime transport. Bessent specifically threatened to cut off dollar system access for entities recycling Iranian money. China, India, Turkey, Russia, UAE, and Pakistan are named as primary targets due to their economic ties with Iran. The move follows six months of failed military and economic pressure against Iran, which has instead caused civilian hardship and increased regime repression. Iran's government vowed to counter the sanctions, while its Revolutionary Guards signaled readiness for large-scale military responses.
