China Warns US Against Interfering in Iran Ties

China warned the US on Tuesday against interfering with its cooperation with Iran, following Washington's threat of sweeping secondary sanctions under "Operation Economic Outcast." Beijing said it firmly opposes illegal unilateral sanctions and will safeguard its interests. Foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that China-Iran cooperation "should not be interfered with or disrupted" and urged the US and Iran to agree to a ceasefire, insisting sanctions will not resolve the conflict. The US Treasury's plan aims to isolate Tehran from the dollar system, with China, UAE, Turkey, and others at risk. China is Iran's largest trading partner, buying nearly 90% of its oil exports, often rebranded as Malaysian or Indonesian crude. The US Treasury imposed sanctions on a Chinese independent refinery in April for purchasing Iranian oil.
