Trump Says Strait of Hormuz Mines Cleared, Warns Iran Against New Ones

U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday that all mines have been detonated or removed from international waters of the Strait of Hormuz and warned Iran that any ship placing new mines will be destroyed. In a Truth Social post, Trump said the U.S. Space Force was monitoring "every square inch" of the strait and that a "Zero Tolerance policy" on mine placement is in effect. The U.S. and Iran have not conducted air strikes on each other's militaries for weeks, but attacks on vessels have continued. Oil transits through the strait were at 5 million barrels per day on Monday, down from over 20 million before the war, according to shiptracker Vortexa. The strait is a key waterway in the global energy supply chain.
