Iran Blacklists 45 Ships, Including Indian and Pakistani Vessels, Over Hormuz Rules

Iran has blacklisted 45 ships, including Indian and Pakistani vessels, for allegedly violating its transit protocols in the Strait of Hormuz, threatening fines, seizure, or confiscation. The list was published by the Persian Gulf Strait Authority on August 23, 2026. The blacklisted vessels include the India-based bulk carrier Maha Roos and Pakistan-flagged tanker Mardan. Most ships are linked to UAE entities, with others connected to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Malta, and Singapore. At least 14 of the 45 vessels have already been attacked in the strait area, according to AFP analysis. Iran has sought to impose its own shipping corridor since the conflict began in late February, replacing international maritime law. Most blacklisted vessels are commodity carriers, with 75 voyages destined for UAE ports. The Iranian agency warned that vessels cooperating with listed ships will also face restrictions.
