Iran warns vessels of fines, detention in Strait of Hormuz rules

Iran's Persian Gulf Strait Authority warned Sunday it will fine and detain commercial vessels violating its protocols, blacklisting 45 ships with possible cargo confiscation. The authority said vessels cooperating with listed ships will also be added to the blacklist, with owners able to request removal. Blacklisted vessels include ships from UAE's ADNOC and Saudi Arabia's Bahri. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced "Operation Economic Outcast" against Iran, an "economic D-Day" pressuring nations to cut financial ties. The U.S. has sanctioned 60 entities tied to Iran's nuclear, missile, and cyber programs, as the Strait of Hormuz closure has raised gas prices to $4.09 nationally.
