Iran and Oman discuss Hormuz corridor plan and mine clearance

Iran and Oman's foreign ministers discussed a phased framework for a temporary navigational corridor through the Strait of Hormuz and a joint mine-clearing project during talks in Tehran on Tuesday. The framework, outlined in a joint statement, includes establishing the temporary corridor and clearing mines from the strait, with technical negotiations to continue on a permanent route and traffic management. Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi expressed hope for a soon announcement of the corridor. The discussions follow a June US-Iran memorandum of understanding, amid a war that began after US and Israeli attacks on Iran in February, leading to Tehran's blockade and a US naval counter-blockade that has disrupted global oil shipments.
