US Sanctions Four Indian Firms Over Iranian Oil Trade
The United States has imposed economic sanctions on four India-based companies for trading Iranian petroleum and petrochemical products, part of "Operation Economic Outcast" targeting Iran's revenue streams. Three Indian individuals were also sanctioned. The sanctioned firms include Portease Partners LLP, Sadashiva Overseas Ltd, PP Softtech Pvt Ltd, and Prakrutees Infra Impex India Pvt Ltd. Sadashiva allegedly imported $69 million worth of Iranian petroleum products between February 2024 and June 2025, while PP Softtech and Prakrutees Infra each imported around $25 million. Portease Partners allegedly acted as a customs broker facilitating shipments. The US Treasury, under Executive Order 13846, sanctioned 60 global entities, individuals, and vessels linked to Iranian trade. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated the measures aim to cut off funding used by Iran for military operations and terrorist groups, with plans for severe secondary sanctions against international firms maintaining economic ties with Iran.
