Tanker hit by unknown projectile off Oman, crew safe

An oil tanker was hit by an "unknown projectile" off the coast of Oman, damaging its engine room and leaving it immobilized, the UKMTO reported. The crew is safe. The attack occurred 9 nautical miles northeast of As Sisha, Oman, near the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel's flag, country of origin, and direction were not disclosed. Ships traversing the Strait of Hormuz have frequently been targeted since the US-Israeli attack on Iran on February 28. The US threatened Iran with "economic strangulation" on Monday, unveiling new sanctions.
