Iran's Parliament Speaker Dismisses US Sanctions Threats as Unbelievable

Iran's parliament speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the US cannot restrict Iran's trade with other countries through sanctions, dismissing American threats as unbelievable. Ghalibaf responded to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's warning that countries trading with Tehran would face US sanctions, stating on X that Washington lacks the economic power to further limit Iran's relations. He claimed Iran's trading partners have publicly and privately expressed disregard for these threats. Iran's Economy Minister Ali Abdolmaleki promised a "new defeat" for the US, saying Washington has repeatedly failed to test Iran's resolve. He announced the government has a two-year plan to manage the consequences of American sanctions.
