Umerov reveals details of Brussels talks on Ukraine's recovery and security
Ukraine and international partners discussed post-war reconstruction, next year's funding, and security guarantees intended to form part of a new European security architecture, according to Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. The first meeting focused on Ukraine's recovery plan, covering post-war revival, investment attraction, and economic development. Participants included the European Commission, the US, the UK, France, Germany, NATO, the World Bank, and BlackRock, with Ukrainian teams from the Economy, Finance, and Defense Ministries and the President's Office. A second meeting addressed 2027 financing, with Ukrainian officials presenting resource needs, financial deficits, and potential funding sources. Talks also covered Russian threats and joint countermeasures. Negotiations continue on November 5, focusing on security guarantees, which Umerov stressed are essential for both Ukraine and Europe's long-term security.
