Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries threaten diesel promised to Trump
Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries have caused serious damage, potentially affecting diesel supplies that Russia had promised to the United States. Aviation expert Valeriy Romanenko stated that Moscow may now have to divert fuel from other regions or reduce exports. The attacks targeted the Kstovsky and Yaroslavl refineries, which rank fourth and fifth in Russia by capacity and specialize in high-quality automotive and aviation fuel. Romanenko noted that the strikes knocked out approximately 10% of Russia's refining capacity, a significant result that Russians should feel. The Omsk refinery, Russia's largest with 22 million tons annual capacity, has also been hit but less frequently due to its remote location. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy defended the strikes as justified, saying they target Russian diesel without affecting US or global fuel prices.
