Kyiv Gets 10 Generators for Water Utility, but Officials Warn of Limits

biz.liga.net (Ukrainian) —

The Ukrainian government will transfer 10 additional generators to Kyiv's water utility following a Russian attack that left the capital without water for nearly a day, but city officials say the equipment is not a solution. Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi announced the transfer, with 21 more generators going to 12 communities in other regions. Kyiv city deputy head Petro Panteleiev said the generators cannot replace the power plants being built for the water utility, as most of the water supply and sewage system requires more power than generators can provide. Kyiv has already built 16 MW of power plants for sewage and plans to add 40 MW for water supply by end of 2026. Water tariffs in Kyiv were raised more than twofold on September 25, and supply problems began in early October after Russian strikes.
