Emergency power outages hit Kyiv and four regions after Russian strikes
Emergency power outages were introduced in Kyiv, the Kyiv region, and the Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, and Cherkasy regions due to a difficult situation in the energy system caused by Russian strikes, Ukrenergo reported on Thursday, November 5. The company stated that previously published outage schedules are currently not in effect in these regions, and emergency measures will be lifted once the system stabilizes. Repair crews are working to restore power where security conditions allow, and consumers in the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions also remain without electricity. Electricity consumption in Ukraine fell by 6.1% compared to the previous working day due to forced restrictions. Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with missiles and 128 drones, with air defenses destroying most targets, though some strikes hit, including a private house in the Sumy region.
