Zelenskyy urges backing for U.S. sanctions on Russia after Trump pauses them
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged supporters on Saturday to advocate for new U.S. sanctions against Russia, hours after President Donald Trump signed an executive order pausing a sweeping package of restrictions targeting the Russian economy. Zelenskyy called the pause unfortunate but avoided direct criticism of Trump, expressing hope the sanctions could be revived. He noted the Lindsey Graham Act could still help end the war, emphasizing that every supportive voice matters as tensions between Ukraine and Washington deepen. Zelenskyy also reported a massive Russian strike on over 15 Ukrainian energy sites, with Ukraine's air force saying it suppressed 289 of 332 drones and all four missiles. Russia claimed control of Dobropillia, which Ukraine denied, as winter approaches.
