Trump denies role in Ukraine satellite disruptions, says Musk innocent

yle.fi (Swedish) —

President Donald Trump denied on Friday that he was behind satellite disruptions affecting Ukraine's military, also stating he believes Elon Musk is innocent. The denial follows new allegations from The Telegraph. The British newspaper reported that Musk asked Trump to slow down the satellite network's function in Ukraine, and Trump agreed. Musk, who leads SpaceX, previously wrote that the U.S. government controls the military satellite version Starshield, with all speed or usage limits decided by the U.S. military and ultimately the president. The disruptions occurred after Trump demanded Ukraine stop attacking Russian oil refineries. Anonymous U.S. officials told Reuters that an order to limit Ukraine's use of SpaceX's satellite network came from the White House.
