Italy calls US intelligence pause for Ukraine a serious mistake
Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto called the US restriction of intelligence data and satellite access for Ukraine an "absolute, serious mistake," warning it could prolong the war rather than bring peace. Crosetto said such a move by the Trump administration "makes absolutely no sense" and would create weakness that convinces Putin he can win, prompting him to continue fighting. He insisted peace will only come when Putin sees the situation as a dead end. Italy's military support for Ukraine will continue while the current government remains in power, though Crosetto noted parliamentary approval for further supplies will become harder as elections approach. His comments follow Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's criticism of Trump's Russian diesel purchase deal.
