US lawmakers propose blocking Russian diesel imports
A group of US House Representatives has introduced a bill to block a diesel deal between Russia and the United States, according to a statement from Democratic committee members. The proposed legislation seeks to revoke general licenses from the US Treasury that currently permit operations with Russian fuel, ban future licenses, and impose sanctions on Russia's energy sector. The bill is backed by 16 Democrats and one Republican, led by Gregory Meeks. Washington's decision on October 9 allows operations involving Russian diesel sales, delivery, and import until April 7, 2027. President Vladimir Putin confirmed Moscow's intention to supply oil and petroleum products to American and global markets following talks with Donald Trump.
