Lula campaign demands airlines hand over canceled flight lists
President Lula's re-election campaign has formally notified Brazil's three largest airlines—Gol, Latam, and Azul—demanding lists of domestic flights cancelled, diverted, or altered since Saturday, following social media reports of cancellations to the Northeast that could reduce voter turnout. The extrajudicial notices cite specific flights but do not accuse the companies of intending to interfere in the election. The campaign requests airlines avoid cancelling or rescheduling domestic flights arriving before 5 p.m. Sunday, when voting ends, except for safety reasons, and asks for swift passenger reaccommodation and written explanations for disruptions. The campaign also demands airlines preserve maintenance records and internal communications related to cancellations between October 23 and 25, with lists including origin, destination, original time, affected passenger numbers, and reasons. Non-compliance will be reported to aviation and electoral authorities for action.
