Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro seeks annulment of election won by Lula
Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro said he will request the annulment of the presidential election, refusing to recognize the victory of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who won by over 4 million votes. Bolsonaro, defeated with 48.22% of valid votes against Lula's 51.78%, criticized a decision by Supreme Court Justice Cristiano Zanin that extended voting hours by two hours, claiming it broke electoral fairness and citing "total breach of isonomy." The senator's defeat was confirmed by the Superior Electoral Court, whose president, Kassio Nunes Marques, had already recognized Lula's re-election. Bolsonaro alleged the extension, requested by a former business partner of Zanin, changed rules mid-election and harmed his campaign.
