Lula da Silva wins fourth term as Brazil's president

pravda.com.ua (Ukrainian) —

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has been elected president of Brazil for a fourth time, defeating Flávio Bolsonaro with 51.75% of the vote. With nearly 99% of ballots counted, Lula secured 51.75% support against Bolsonaro's 48.25%. This marks the first time since the late 1980s that a Brazilian candidate has overcome a first-round defeat to win the presidency. Lula, 81, previously led Brazil from 2003 to 2010 and returned to power in 2022 by defeating then-president Jair Bolsonaro. Analysts attribute his comeback to increased voter turnout in key regions.
