Brazilian presidential runoff: Lula vs Bolsonaro vote count live

tsf.pt (Portuguese) —

Brazilian voters are casting ballots in the presidential runoff between incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and challenger Flávio Bolsonaro, with polls open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Brasília time. The winner will be determined by the more than 158.7 million eligible voters across Brazil and abroad. Bolsonaro led the first round with 47.03% of valid votes against Lula's 45.16%, a margin of about 2.2 million votes. Historically, no candidate finishing second in the first round has won the presidency since the two-round system began in 1989. Lula, 80, of the left-wing Workers' Party, seeks a fourth term, while Bolsonaro, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, aims to return the right to power four years after his father's defeat. Voting occurs across 5571 cities and 186 foreign locations, including Lisbon.
