Brazil Extends Voting Hours After Voter Blocking Reports

svd.se (Swedish) —

Brazil's Supreme Court has extended voting hours by two hours after polls were scheduled to close, following reports that many voters were blocked from casting ballots. President Lula da Silva requested the extension, citing buses taken out of service in São Paulo and other cities. The second presidential candidate, Flávio Bolsonaro, also requested the extension, according to TT. Polling stations will now close at 11 PM Swedish time. Lula stated that voters were hindered by "ugly methods" used by mayors. The decision was made shortly after the original closing time, as reported by Reuters. The extension aims to allow those who were practically prevented from voting to still cast their ballots.
