Zelensky asks Spain and Latin America for help rebuilding Ukraine's energy grid

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked Spain and Latin American countries on Thursday for help rebuilding and restoring Ukraine's energy system, which has been destroyed by Russian attacks. He made the request during the 30th Ibero-American Summit in Madrid. Zelensky specified the need for transformers, electrical cables, modern electronic equipment, and diesel and gas generators. He noted that companies in Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile could supply these materials, urging immediate support to facilitate deliveries to Ukraine. The visit follows Zelensky's trip to Berlin on Tuesday and comes amid renewed diplomatic efforts for peace, including recent rapprochement between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. Kyiv fears reduced US support ahead of a difficult winter, with negotiations scheduled for November 10-11 in the UAE.
