Zelensky: Police brought electricians to Kyiv residents who blocked road over outages
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Kyiv faces the most difficult electricity supply situation among all Ukrainian regions, attributing this to the scale of Russian strikes and the city's level of preparation. In an interview published Thursday, November 5, Zelensky said Russians target networks connecting generation to consumers because many generating facilities are protected, making it physically impossible to transmit excess electricity to the capital. He criticized the water utility's management, saying it must work faster and that promises of round-the-clock operation are insufficient. Zelensky cited an incident where Kyiv residents blocked a road due to power outages, prompting him to call the interior minister, who had police quickly bring electrician crews to the site. He said blocking roads is not a solution but called the residents' reaction a correct signal, while thanking all energy workers restoring networks.
