Ukraine offers energy ceasefire: no strikes on Russian refineries if Russia spares Ukrainian power grid
Ukraine is ready to stop strikes on Russian oil refineries if Russia halts attacks on Ukrainian electricity infrastructure, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview published Sunday, October 25. Zelensky proposed this "energy ceasefire" as a simple condition: no Russian attacks on Ukrainian power grids in exchange for no Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil processing facilities. He said he has already presented this option to international partners. The president framed Ukraine's strikes on Russian oil infrastructure as a response to Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy sites, emphasizing fairness and that Russia must feel consequences. He previously called an energy truce a potential first step toward ending the war.
