Russian Drone Strike on Chernivtsi Energy Facility Leaves Parts of City Without Power
On Monday evening, October 26, a Russian jet-powered drone attacked Chernivtsi Oblast, damaging an energy facility and causing power outages in parts of the city of Chernivtsi. No casualties were reported. The drone's debris struck the facility, according to regional governor Ruslan Osypenko and mayor Roman Klichuk. Energy workers have begun repairs, and emergency services are on site. Osypenko urged residents not to share photos or videos of the attack or air defense operations to prevent the enemy from adjusting follow-up strikes. On the same day, a UN Independent International Commission concluded that Russia deliberately targets civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, including energy, classifying such strikes as war crimes and crimes against humanity. Separately, a Russian drone hit Pavlohrad in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, killing one person and wounding seven, including two 10-year-old girls.
