Russian Strikes in Zaporizhzhia and Chernihiv Injure Six, Officials Say
Russian strikes on Ukraine's southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia injured four people overnight, regional governor Mykhailo Semikin said on Telegram on Monday. Two more were injured in strikes on the Chernihiv region, Ukraine's emergency service reported. Russia's defence ministry said it hit a power station in Kharkiv, a warehouse in the surrounding region, another power station in Khmelnitskiy, port infrastructure in Chornomorsk, and a cargo vessel en route to Odesa used for military purposes. The attacks mark continued escalation in the conflict. The United States has pressed Ukraine to suspend strikes on Russian oil refineries, citing high energy prices, a sensitive issue for the Trump administration amid its war on Iran. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Kyiv would halt strikes if Moscow stopped hitting power infrastructure, or if the U.S. allowed Starshield use over Russia or supplied Patriot missiles.
