Thousands in Lisbon protest for housing and wages ahead of campout
Thousands marched in Lisbon on Saturday in a CGTP-organized protest demanding higher wages, better pensions, and new housing policies, ahead of a planned housing campout. The demonstration criticized government action. The march, starting after 3 p.m. from Cais do Sodré to Rossio, was the last of three CGTP rallies that day, following events in Porto and Coimbra. CGTP leader Tiago Oliveira accused the government of ignoring workers' struggles and called for price and interest rate controls. The protest preceded the "Não dá mais? Então monta a tua tenda!" campout for housing policies, which began around 5 p.m. Oliveira also criticized the Democratic Alliance government, contrasting worker hardship with record corporate profits.
