Macron vows France will unite against those who sow chaos
French President Emmanuel Macron said France will unite against those who sow chaos, promising that individuals who destroyed and looted during protests will be prosecuted and punished. He stated there is no place for violence in the Republic. In a message on X, Macron condemned attacks on prefectures, businesses, and town halls, vowing legal action against perpetrators. He also expressed support for security forces and said protesters expressing demands peacefully must not be obstructed. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu blamed far-left groups for the violent protests and pledged to pursue legislation requiring vandals to pay for damages. The unrest follows a national protest day called by "yellow vests" over high living costs, with student movements also participating.
