Bologna clashes: Seven detained as police face stone-throwing protesters
Clashes broke out in Bologna between young protesters and police outside the central station, with seven people detained. Water cannons and tear gas were used after hooded youths threw stones and objects. The unrest began when a group split from a larger march against the cost of living, which started in Piazza Minghetti. Dozens of rental bikes were toppled, and police in helmets and shields secured the area as protests moved toward Via Indipendenza. Mayor Matteo Lepore condemned the violence, stating that the destruction of public property has no justification. He urged young demonstrators across Italy to isolate those using protests as a pretext for vandalism, adding the demonstration was not authorized.
