CGTP expects large protests in Lisbon, Porto, and Coimbra against rising living costs
The CGTP union expects a "large national demonstration" this Saturday in Lisbon, Porto, and Coimbra against the rising cost of living, bringing together workers, youth, and pensioners. Under the slogan "More salary, better pensions and public services/Against the rise in cost of living/New direction for Portugal!", the protests begin at 10:30 in Porto and Coimbra, and at 14:30 in Lisbon. CGTP leader Tiago Oliveira stated the action aims to give a voice to those struggling with high housing, fuel, and food prices, with strike notices issued for several sectors. Oliveira also warned political parties deciding on the 2027 State Budget that they cannot remain neutral, and criticized the PS for announcing its voting intention early. He stressed that those allowing current difficulties to continue will be held responsible.
