Liège police disperse final protesters after violent demonstration
Police dispersed the last protesters in Liège on Saturday after a demonstration turned violent, with clashes involving mortars, tear gas, a water cannon, and barricades, leading to around thirty arrests. On Place Saint-Lambert, police surrounded about thirty protesters, using a water cannon against them. Earlier, the march blocked several roads, and some demonstrators moved barriers to build barricades before police broke up the crowd. By evening, police reported calm returning after dispersing the remaining protesters. Around fifty people fired mortars at the Princes-Bishops' Palace, prompting police to use tear gas. The day's toll included minor damage and fires, with seven judicial arrests among the thirty total.
