tsf.pt (Portuguese) —

French security forces arrested 855 people in Paris on Saturday following protests that led to clashes with police, vandalized public buildings, and looting of hundreds of shops. The Paris Police Prefecture released the figure on Sunday, based on data collected until 8:00 AM local time. The Prefecture stated judicial work will continue, including video analysis to identify other perpetrators of violent acts. It reiterated Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu's directive that those arrested "must answer for their acts" and face civil and criminal consequences. Interior Minister Laurent Núñez reported 1,200 arrests nationwide by Saturday evening, with 150 police and gendarmes injured. The protests, called by student collectives, unions, and former "yellow vest" leaders, drew 550,000 people across France according to Núñez, though organizers claimed over 800,000. Sunday morning in central Paris showed destroyed shop windows, scattered glass, and streets still barricaded with containers, fences, bicycles, and urban furniture.
