Left-wing parties accuse government of ignoring housing and cost-of-living crisis
Left-wing parties accused the government on Saturday of ignoring housing and cost-of-living difficulties, with Livre denouncing contempt, the PCP alleging detachment, and BE calling Prime Minister Luís Montenegro desperate. The accusations were made by party leaders during a CGTP demonstration in Lisbon for wage increases and against the rising cost of living. Livre's Isabel Mendes Lopes criticized government housing measures, saying they heat up the market, while PCP's Paulo Raimundo held the prime minister responsible for the country's situation. BE's José Manuel Pureza said the government offers no response to essential problems and accused Montenegro of trying to distract attention by releasing a video of a protester allegedly threatening his home. CGTP leader Tiago Oliveira also accused the government of being unaware of workers' difficulties and defended price controls.
