Xi Jinping calls for stronger China-US trade ties

Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed hope that China and the US will strengthen trade ties through mutual efforts during talks with US President Donald Trump, stating that both sides should expand cooperation to maintain stable trade relations. Xi, currently on a state visit to the US, said that adhering to the spirit of equality, respect, and mutual benefit would help find solutions to problems. He emphasized the need to broaden areas of cooperation and reduce the list of contentious issues. On September 21, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Washington and Beijing held talks covering trade and artificial intelligence, calling the meeting successful and noting that both sides continued work previously started in Beijing.
