Xi Jinping Visits Trump at White House, Calls for US-China Partnership

Chinese leader Xi Jinping arrived in the United States for a visit with President Donald Trump at the White House. Xi stated that the U.S. and China "should be partners, not rivals." In a statement upon his arrival, Xi said both nations "should be partners, not rivals," adding that China's national rejuvenation and America's greatness can proceed side-by-side, benefiting the world. He emphasized both sides should work toward stable relations with cooperation as the foundation. Trump, after returning to the White House, told journalists he went to meet Xi's plane, saying, "I think they appreciate it — they are extraordinary people." Xi's visit to the U.S. from September 23-25 was at Trump's invitation.
