Xi urges US-China cooperation to keep AI under human control

Chinese President Xi Jinping urged the US and China to cooperate on ensuring artificial intelligence remains under human control, during a White House meeting with President Donald Trump on Thursday. He warned both nations must avoid conflict and confrontation. Xi stated the two countries' interests are "deeply intertwined" with "plenty of room" for collaboration, adding that while China-US cooperation may not solve every global problem, many issues would be hard to address without it. He called for improved communication across diplomatic, economic, financial, law enforcement, and people-to-people exchanges. The leaders discussed AI as a key topic, with Xi noting both nations have the capability and responsibility to manage the technology for good. Trump said "Super Intelligence" would be a major discussion point. Xi also highlighted personal rapport with Trump and announced pandas would head to a US zoo soon.
