US President Donald Trump and his wife greeted Xi at Joint Base Andrews, a rare gesture. Xi delivered a written speech emphasizing that both countries are great and their interests are deeply intertwined. He said the rejuvenation of China and making America great again can proceed together, and he looks forward to in-depth talks with Trump on trade, technology, AI, and other issues. This is Xi's first trip to Washington since 2015, and it marks the first time since 1962 that a US president has personally welcomed a foreign leader at the base. Xi also referenced the constructive relationship agreed upon during Trump's May visit to China.
